My classroom is full of 20 kindergarten students who are eager to learn new skills. They attend a K-8 elementary school in the rural foothills of California. Our learning community is made up of many low income/high poverty families. Many students have not had the opportunity to attend preschool.
My students love art!
They love to see their art displayed on the walls for the school community to see.
My Project
The art materials requested will be used by students to create memories that they can share with their families. The paint and construction paper will be used for various art projects that help support our language arts and science curriculum. From painting a winter weather scene or decorating valentines to donate to our local retirement communities, our art has purpose.
The many life skills that my students will gain while creating this art are incredible.
They will work on their fine motor skills while painting and cutting, they will improve their ability to follow directions, and they will appreciate that learning can be fun!
More than half of students from low‑income households
