My Students

Wow! There are so many reasons why my students are special. Let's start with the fact that my students are willing to do whatever it takes to become better readers, writers, mathematicians, scientist and social advocates because they realize that they are the future. They are avid readers and they love to read books they can relate to. I make my classroom an inviting enviorment where my students can feel free to learn without criticisms or worry about what may be going on at home or in the world. They are free to take off their shoes and be comfortable while learning. I love them for looking past some of their struggles to become the best students they can be.

My Project

As a teacher who works in an urban low-income neighborhood, I see the need for my students to have influential role models and a belief that they can be anything they aspire to be. Therefore, I make the classroom an inviting space where students feel comfortable to learn My room is a no worry zone!

My students show me every day how excited they are about learning in a worry-free zone and improving their reading, comprehension and writing skills.

With this in mind, the reading books I have asked for will allow my students to increase their reading and comprehension levels by reading books on their reading level and be able to to have meaningful literature talks, create book reports and book projects. Students can also collaborate with students in their reading groups. The reading books will also increase their vocabulary and writing skills as they use the books to respond to questions about the book.

My room is an inviting environment and the students love to take off their shoes especially when they read so the circular rugs would provide additional seating in the classroom where students can read alone or read with a group and have meaningful literature talks about the books they are reading.

The laptop desk will be great for students who want to work independently away from their desk providing flexible seating for students if they choose. It would provide them a solid surface to write on and still allow them to be comfortable and work in small groups. I truly believe that my students will benefit from these essential resources.
