Creating a Welcoming Classroom Environment

Help me give my students flexible seating options. Students need to be able to move around and feel comfortable in order to learn. Flexible seating will allow students to find a spot to stay focused and productive.

My Students

Every student has skills, talents, and strengths; sometimes, all it takes is exposure or motivation. Our school is a Title I school. However, the students never let this stop them. They are hard-working and always ready to lend a helping hand. Our school also celebrates inclusion. The students have diverse learning needs. My students are unique and come from a variety of different backgrounds. I want my classroom to be inviting for each of those differences! would love to improve our class environment to benefit them. They are so deserving!

My Project

An uncomfortable student is a distracted and unproductive student. Flexible seating, such as the floor pillows and floor seats, will encourage students to choose where and with whom they will work best. This will promote more on-task behavior. It will also allow students to feel comfortable while reading, writing, and collaborating with peers.

Also, students will feel empowered by having some degree of choice and control over their environment.

The floor seats and floor pillows will meet individual sensory needs and provide an environment that promotes the learning of all students.
