My Project

I am starting my second year teaching 2nd grade in a rural, low social-economic school. My students are about to embark on a new year and I would like to give them a cozy classroom library. My classroom was empty when I walked through those doors last July, so I would like to increase the books in my classroom library. In order to get more books, I also need more bookshelves to store the books.

Reading provides opportunities to grow a child's imagination, increase their vocabulary, and build their fluency; all of these skills lead to a stronger ability to comprehend.

My students are from a variety of academic levels. Therefore, I want to put as many books in their hands as possible. Some of my students are reading several grade levels above and some are struggling readers. Any contribution is very much appreciated.
