This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My name is Ms. Sarlo and I am currently a kindergarten NEST teacher in the Bronx. I currently have some students with autism who could use some extra help when it comes to regulating their feelings. We are a 2nd year NEST classroom and are lacking many supplies and tools to help make the program a success.

We have very few calming sensory toys, like stress-relief tools, and books about emotional regulation and how it can empower my students to recognize and cope with their emotions.

Additionally, I would also be asking for some games and learning tools that can provide an outlet for movement, helping children stay engaged and reduce feelings of frustration. Whatever we have was purchased by myself and my co-teacher.

Your donation will make a significant difference in the lives of my students, helping them feel safe, heard, and empowered to manage their emotions. Together, we can create a classroom environment that fosters emotional growth and academic success for all of my young learners.
