Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

These items will help create a safe space for students to be themsleves, and express emotion through creativity. After Covid, I have seen an increase in stress, and emotional disregulation in our students at Century HS. Students are requiring more and more grace and patience when naviagting normal emotional situations that teens go through. As a Title one district, our community battles extenuating cirumstances that cause extra stress and anxiety such as homelessness, poverty, and food scarcity.

This anxiety and stress has increased exponetially since Covid, and more and more students are requiring social emotional learning to help them handle and process everyday stressors.

The goals for this project are to lower student stress and for students to create a safe space in the speech room that makes them feel comfortable, relaxed, and safe. What makes my students so special is that no matter what they go through on a daily basis, they show up everyday. No matter how hard something is, they show up to school every single day!
