Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a school psychologist, I have seen the significant impact that a well-equipped mental health office can have on a student’s well-being. This school year, I will be at a new campus serving a new population. In order to create an environment conducive to mental and emotional growth, I am seeking resources such as therapeutic group activities books to improve my knowledge on group and individual counseling sessions. Therapeutic games and writing tools to help me engage students in reflective and interactive tasks. Additionally, having journaling prompts readily available will hopefully encourage students to explore their thoughts and feelings in a structured manner.

With your help, I can provide my students with valuable tools to develop coping strategies, emotional regulation, and interpersonal skills.

With a rolling cart I can ensure materials are easily accessible during sessions. It will also provide students with easy access to various stress-relief tools and fidget toys like stress balls.

Overall, I hope to provide a calming environment in my office with tools for deep breathing exercises, noise fountain for creating a serene atmosphere, and mental health decor. Snacks and a phone charger will also help my students feel comfortable while in my office. Magnetic tiles and a jelly lamp can provide a distraction from a stressful situation and give the students time to decompress when needed. With your support I hope to create a supportive and nurturing space where students can feel safe and understood, ultimately promoting their mental health and academic success.
