Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are very thoughtful and look out for each other. We are in a very small classroom but this is helping make us a close family! But we have to be inventive with our set up. I want to provide the students with adaptive seating and a place to go when they need a moment to calm down and reflect on their emotions. These two things can greatly benefit children on the spectrum and children with behavior/emotional problems. They really enjoy dancing and yoga so I made sure to keep as much empty space to allow them to take breaks throughout the day for that.

My students just need some tools to help them be the best they can be inside and outside of the classroom and I feel these things can help get them there!

Our school is a city school and is located in a lower income neighborhood but the school does have fantastic resources for the students! I just want to provide my kids with a few more tools in the classroom.

My Project

Students will be able to move in the classroom from their desk to the floor to complete their work. Providing them with at least one choice of flexible seating to start with will help them learn the best way for them.

This project will help my students by giving them different kinds of tools to use in the classroom to reflect on their emotions.

The students will also benefit from a safe place to go when their emotions become too strong. A child will be able to go and be alone in an area and use the tools provided to calm down in their own time.
