Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is a Title I school in the heart of Brooklyn. As a community school, we take pride in the small learning communities that we have spent years establishing and nurturing. During COVID-19 and as students prepare to make the difficult decision to attend school in a hybrid model, the Health 10 grade team would like to make sure we have all the materials necessary to keep students safe. Our teacher's choice spending money was taken away and many of us have been spending our own money to supply our classrooms with teaching materials, so there is not much left to purchase cleaning supplies to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our school.

Every bit counts. This is for a team of 100 students and 9 teachers. (We also hope to share with our counselor, and related service providers who all deal with the same students and share the same spaces). Thank you in advance. We are gearing up to work these front lines and ensure students are still able to receive a quality education. Help us make it a safe space to learn!

My Project

These items will support the creation of safe learning spaces. We will have each classroom equipped with hand sanitizer and spare masks and gloves. Teachers will use some of the items to clean desks and surfaces between classes. There will be thermometers and first aid kits to support any student feeling ill.

We want to make the spaces clean and safe so we can all go home without having risked spreading the sickness to our families and our student's families.

These items will support our safe learning spaces and reduce the risk of spreading any germs or illnesses in our time together. It is so sad for us to have to raise this money for this purpose, when just last year we spoke of field trips and team building. But this is where we are now in the world. Help us help our students.
