Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students and middle school students, grades 6-8. They are committed members of the boys and girls soccer teams. They practice twice a week, and play one game a week. This is a substantial time commitment for middle schoolers, and they participate without an incredible amount of dedication.

Many of my students are playing in donation, used cleats, no cleats at all, and mediocre shinguards.

As they have become more dedicated to the sport, they deserve better equipment. This project would help them be safer and more professional on the field.

My Project

Last year, I was lucky enough to participate in Dick's Sporting Good's matching campaign to get hoodies for my team. We play through a non-profit organization that does the best they can, but is not able to provide students with high quality cleats, shinguards, and shorts. I truly believe our hoodies last year contributed to the team culture necessary to help my girls team go undefeated and my boy's team to take home the sportsmanship trophy last season.

I want these kids to feel like they are on a team that is as high quality as the suburban teams.

This starts with proper cleats, shinguards, and soccer shorts.
