Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My goal is to create a safe and positive learning environment at our special education alternative school. We have a Cricut machine and heat press but are looking for more supplies for it. We are going to create wall decals, decorations for classrooms and sensory rooms, as well as shirts for our students. Our students come to us after struggling to be successful in a traditional school environment. Many come from low-income families, are in foster care, and have endured trauma.

These supplies will provide a creative outlet for students while at the same time helping them to take part in designing a positive school community.

Allowing them to take part in designing and crafting custom-designed wall decals and decorations for our classrooms and sensory rooms, as well as taking part in creating a school t-shirt design has helped us to promote a positive school culture and boost students' sense of belonging. My hope is that having the supplies to continue these projects will continue to help students foster a sense of pride in themselves and our school.
