My Students

I teach Read 180 to sixth, seventh and eighth grade students and facilitate Virtual Spanish for seventh and eighth grade students. Our school has a very small population and we often get to know every student throughout the building. It's a very family-like atmosphere where everyone is there to support one another and to see that every student finds success. When they come to my classroom, it is my goal to help them be comfortable, to find something that interests them and to help them discover a love for reading and language.

My Project

In my classroom, students work on computers each day on their reading intervention software program and their Virtual Spanish online curriculum. Our current classroom setup includes old tables from a technology lab that don't allow for proper social distancing while working on the computers. I am requesting new computer tables so we can better socially distance in our classroom.

With new computer tables, students will be able to complete their required reading intervention activities and their Spanish curriculum while being distanced throughout the room to allow for the safety of everyone in the classroom.

Not only do I want students to leave my classroom better readers and speakers of a new language, but I also want them to enjoy reading and language. By creating a safe and engaging classroom, I think many of my students over the last thirteen years have left at the end of the year knowing they have accomplished both goals.
