Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are 5th graders at a Title I school. Our school was presented this year with the Golden Bell Award for our Safe and Civil procedures. We are very proud of this award that we earned by providing the students with structure and procedures that they follow daily on our campus.

Our students are economically and ethnically diverse and they love coming to school and are enthusiastic about learning everyday.

They love exploring and learning new concepts. I am always looking for new ways to challenge them. They are our future and I want to be able to set them up to succeed.

My Project

These resources will help me in creating a classroom where students can find someone who looks like them in a story or when coloring themselves they have color options to match their skin color. Providing my students with these resources will help create and promote a welcoming environment for all students. My hope is that resources like Colors of the World crayons and diverse books will make the students feel a sense of belonging in my classroom by being able to relate to the art around the room along with the characters they read about in the books.
