Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My goal for our library is to make it a place where students come as a safe haven. I would like this to be a place where students can come and make like-minded friends and meet new people. The best way to do this is to have a makerspace area for them in the library. I have already brought in some games that but some of them are missing essentials. I even have chess sets with missing pieces and puzzles that are not complete!

I would love for our library to be a place where my students can explore their creativity.

I have seen libraries where students want to be and already my students are asking about what they can do here. I am the first librarian in at least a decade at this school, so we are starting from the beginning. I am asking for complete puzzles, games, posters, brain teasers, flash cards, arts and crafts materials, STEM toys and creative things my students can choose to do when they visit the library makerspace.
