Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a new teacher in a dual-language program, I’m excited to support my fourth-grade students in their bilingual journey. This is the first year our school is offering a 50/50 classroom split, meaning students spend half their day with me and the other half with an English teacher. With two classes and a bilingual curriculum, I’m navigating new systems to help my students thrive—and we need your support to make this transition a success!

To keep materials organized, I’m requesting chair pockets for one group while the other uses table storage.

This will provide a designated space for each class's supplies, helping students quickly locate what they need as they switch between classrooms. I’m also requesting flexible seating cushions to allow students to learn in a way that suits them best, especially during small-group activities.

Our biggest need is math manipulatives, including the Lakeshore Upper Grades Math Manipulative Library and Rekenreks for practicing place value. My students are working hard to catch up, and these resources will make math concepts tangible and accessible.
