This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a first-year teacher, I am still in the process of building up a strong classroom library that fosters creativity and instills a love of reading in all of my 3rd-graders! Thank you for taking a moment to read about my passion for creating a positive, inclusive learning environment.

SDGVA is home to students from all cultures, backgrounds, abilities, and socio-economic statuses.

It is my goal to ensure that my students are able to see themselves in the literature they read. I want them to feel encouraged, motivated, cared for, and loved through reading books that represent the diverse culture of our school. I want them to know that no matter who they are or where they come from, they have a place in this world.

I have seen firsthand how important representation is within the classroom. Your donation will give my students opportunities to enjoy reading books that give them the freedom to dream, create, get inspired, and learn. It will allow me to generate mentor-text lessons in writing, reading, social-emotional skills, science, math, art, and social studies that will enrich learning.
