This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a new second grade teacher, my goal is to design a space where my students feel safe and welcome. I plan to accomplish this by designing a welcoming classroom to all of my students. Flexible seating will allow for movement and adaptability, enabling my prospective students to find comfortable positions that promote focus and concentration. Whether that is sitting by the rug or by the mobile chair/table as they write or read through the day.

By Including flexible seating in this second grade classroom, I will be able to foster an environment conducive to learning, by designing effective classroom seating arrangements.

Studies show that the way students are seated can impact their engagement, interaction and overall learning experiences.

I plan to use the table charts, pocket chart, digital clock and wireless presenter as part of the students' visual learning throughout our learning day. These tools are essential for class routine as well when working with small groups targeting a specific learning goal that will facilitate interactive learning in the classroom, creating an environment where students actively participate in the educational process.

The spiral coil binding machine along with the materials needed for the machine will be used to create phonic/math notebooks for the students. I want to help my students keep their worksheets organized. I also want to help them bind/ publish their writing piece of units of study for ELA/All other subjects. I want my students to recognize that their writing work is a piece of art. Something they can cherish for years.

Over all by prioritizing proper seating arrangements and incorporating flexible seating options, and using different visual tools I will be creating a conducive learning environment that promotes student engagement, interaction and collaboration each day as we all come to school.
