Lights! Camera! Action! Here comes our rural community in lights!
This project is to get ready for next year.
Next year's third grade class will have 13 students. I have been ready for this class since they were kindergartners.
Our community is a rural Nebraska community, where everything is related to agriculture. The school my students attend is a K-12 school with an average of 10 students per class.
My Project
Each year in third grade we study our small community. We have a test and usually make a book. Then we sell the book to make a profit for end of the year ticket prizes. Next year I thought of making it more 21st century and having the students film a movie. I think being hands-on and creative like Lily, Sarah, and Grace liked to do would be best for these active third grade learners.
The students would use the tripod and camera to interview citizens about history of our town. They would also use it to interview business owners about their business' history.
Then instead of having a book signing event we would have an movie opening and make a big deal about it so my students would feel success. The movie would also be sold to make a profit and teach students about money making.
My project is important because it allows my students to become creative in a 21st century way.
It also lets them learn about the history of our town and provides them with a money making opportunity.
