Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are amazing kindergarten through third graders in an inner city school in Boston. They are eager hard working kids who really love learning! Each day they come to school excited to learn how to read with me in the reading room! These are great kids at a great school who sincerely appreciate your support for their education.

My Project

I am requesting materials to support a comfortable and welcoming space for readers, as well as games to build up our students' phonological awareness.

Coming to the "Reading Room" should be a warm and welcoming experience where kids can learn to become life long lovers of reading!

We finally were given a dedicated reading space for reading intervention, but as with many extra rooms in very old buildings, it is old and not exceptionally welcoming. With some new rugs, lamps, and inspirational decor, we can make this room somewhere that kids really want to come and learn!

I am also requesting some games to bring some excitement to learning the building blocks of reading. Kids will love to have shiny new materials to help them learn!
