Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I have the wonderful opportunity to teach a great group of third graders in a Title I school in New York City.

Research shows that increased sustained reading leads to increased achievement. This school year I am trying to instill a love of reading in my students. My goal is to have my students reading for a minimum of thirty minutes each day. The problem is that kids don't want to sit on a dirty floor as they read and they just can't get comfortable in their chairs.

We are asking for comfy seats to scatter around our reading area to make it both inviting and comfortable. Kids will clamor to sit in a bean bag chair and if our class has enough comfy seats then we can focus in on our goal of increasing our reading stamina!

Your donation will create a comfy place for my students to snuggle up with a good book!
