My Students

You might say, "What is a college-going culture?" Well, a college-going culture is a collective belief that college, or some form of education after high school, is essential for all graduates.

My students come from a low-income area where they struggle to buy the essentials necessary to attend school.

Despite the digital divide, my students are ambitious, enthusiastic, and have dreams of a future attending a college or university. However, most lack the exposure, means, or funds to attain their dream. The vast majority of my students will be the first in their family to attend a college, but they do not have access to the internet or technology in their home to initiate or complete the college application process.

The support from generous people such as yourselves will open a world of possibilities for them. With your help, we will battle the achievement gap, and bridge the"Lack of Resources" in their homes. Thus, students in my classroom will learn about college, care about college, and make plans to attend college after high school graduation.

My Project

The college application process can sometimes be a very scary and intimidating experience for high school students. This statement is most evident for my students. Although they are eager, enthusiastic, and ambitious, the majority of them must come to school to access necessary technology, and resources to initiate or complete the college application process.

Laptops in my classroom will bridge the gap between home and school allowing them to complete college applications, apply for scholarships, grants, and financial aid.

This will also allow students to complete projects in math and science using technology they may not have access to at home. By donating to our project, you will help get our students to college and help their dream come true.
