My Students

My students love working together--discussing new topics, making connections between what they're learning and the real-world, and creating projects together.

My students attend a Title One school where the majority of the population receives free lunch.

There is a lot of diversity within the school and many opportunities to learn from one another. My students range in abilities and languages spoken. They are diverse learners who thrive for knowledge.

My Project

It's very difficult to be collaborative in uncomfortable chairs with work spread out across many desks. Group and partner activities work much better when students can spread out on a comfortable carpet. Ideas flow better when students aren't restricted to their seats. I am requesting a carpet and side tables so my students can work on collaborative projects and have discussions, In our classroom, students have show their responsibility in completing group tasks. With the carpet, they work comfortably and arrange their work. They can also easily place their materials on the side tables creating the feeling of a cozy living room.

I strive to create classroom environments that are comfortable, organized, and visually appealing to my students.

I want them to take ownership over their work and be proud of what they do. I want them to be the best type of learner, wherever they chose to work. Erin Gruwell once said, "If you can change a classroom, you can change a community, and if you change enough communities you can change the world." Please help me begin to change the world!
