My Project

Research has shown that flexible seating environments can lead to improved focus, collaboration, and overall well-being among students. By supporting our project, you're not just investing in furniture; you're investing in the future of our students. Together, we can create a dynamic learning space where every child feels valued, comfortable, and empowered to reach their full potential.

Imagine a classroom where every student has the opportunity to find their perfect spot for learning.

From neurodivergent learners who thrive in a cozy corner to kinesthetic learners who prefer the freedom of movement, flexible seating aims to cater to the individual needs of each child. By providing a variety of seating options such as floor cushions, stools, benches, and chairs, we are not only accommodating different learning styles but also fostering a sense of autonomy and responsibility among our students.

As a 5th grade teacher, I am constantly seeking innovative ways to create an inclusive and engaging learning environment for my diverse group of students. I have used my own money to provide different seating options--from coffee tables to floor cushions to stools to ottomans, but they're in dire need of an update. Affordable seating options are often cheap and are easily ruined with no budget to repair them.

Flexibility is key at our Title One public school, where every student brings a unique set of learning needs to the classroom. Our school is severely under-resourced and we are located in a "disadvantaged community" as identified by the California EPA. My classroom is oddly shaped and has additional unique challenges due to the size of the space. I would love to be able to embrace the odd shape and mimic the vibrant atmosphere of a coffee shop for all my students to learn in.
