My Project

Our school is transitioning to full inclusion, and I am seeking materials to create an organized, calming, and adaptive classroom for my diverse students, especially as we work to meet the needs of all learners in one space.

I am requesting organizational bins, flexible lighting, cushions for seating, foot bands, and sensory materials to better support my students.

Organizational bins will reduce clutter and help students focus by creating a neat, accessible environment. Soft lighting will provide a calming effect, especially for students with sensory sensitivities or anxiety. Cushions will allow for flexible seating, giving students who struggle with sitting still a comfortable alternative. Foot bands will help students with hyperactivity manage their energy without disrupting the class. Finally, sensory tools like fidget toys will give students healthy outlets to focus better. I brought a fidget toy from home for one student who was previously struggling to pay attention and often disrupted the class - today he told me how much calmer he felt. I want to provide this opportunity for all of my students.

These materials will have an immediate, positive impact. Many of my students see school as a place of stability, and creating an inclusive environment where they feel supported is essential for their success. I have been creating flexible seating options, but currently only have the materials to support a few students at a time. With these resources, they will be able to manage their focus and energy levels, allowing them to fully engage with lessons and develop important self-regulation skills.
