Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach an Art and Yoga class for high school students and every day I am inspired by their creativity, resilience, and unique perspectives. My students bring diverse experiences and challenges to the classroom and I strive to create an environment where they feel safe, supported and empowered. Each resource in my cart will help them achieve this goal by providing the tools they need to focus, relax, and engage in both their artistic, personal and physical growth.

This project is necessary because it provides my students with the essential tools to support their mental health, well-being and creativity; fostering a safe and focused environment where they can truly thrive.

The poster, yoga pose cards, and floor cushions will encourage students to practice mindfulness and relaxation techniques, helping them stay grounded and focused. The ergonomic chairs will ensure they are comfortable while working on their art projects, preventing discomfort and promoting good posture for better concentration. The lamp and calm strips will create a calming atmosphere in the classroom, making it a peaceful space for students. Lastly, the mindfulness talk cards will provide them with strategies for dealing with any emotional challenges that may arise, helping them develop self-awareness and emotional resilience.

My goal for this project is to foster a nurturing environment where students can explore their creativity without the pressure of external stressors. I want to create a space where they can focus on both their physical and mental well-being while learning art and yoga. What makes my students special is their openness to learning, their willingness to try new things and the way they support each other in building a positive, inclusive classroom culture. With these resources, I can give them the tools they need to thrive—both in the classroom and in life.
