This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

My students are a fantastic group who are resilient, curious, and full of potential. They come from diverse backgrounds and face various challenges, but they always show up ready to learn and grow. What makes them unique is their ability to persevere, their eagerness to support one another, and their desire to build a strong sense of community.

The resources requested will play a crucial role in fostering social-emotional learning and creating a nurturing environment in our wellness center.

The SEL picture books and conversation cards will help students explore and express their emotions, understand different perspectives, and build empathy. These resources will encourage discussions around kindness, inclusion, and self-esteem, which are essential for their personal and academic growth.

The flexible seating options, including wobble chairs and stackable stools, will provide students with the freedom to choose how they learn best. These seating options are particularly beneficial for students who struggle with focus and need movement to stay engaged. By offering different ways to sit and learn, we can accommodate a variety of learning styles and needs, making our wellness center a more inclusive space. The cabinet will provide a space for easy access to these materials.

My goal for this project is to create a wellness center that serves as a safe haven for all students—a place where they can develop the social-emotional skills they need to thrive in school and beyond. By providing access to SEL resources and flexible seating, we aim to empower students to take charge of their emotional well-being, foster positive relationships, and build the resilience needed to overcome challenges.
