My Students

My students are an inquisitive group of kids. They enjoy completing projects via technology. It has the power to transform the mundane learning tasks into innovative projects. They have a thirst to access a myriad of information. Technology puts it at their fingertips!

I am a National Board Certified Teacher.

I frequently attend trainings for Common Core, Gifted strategies, and any other trainings that will directly impact my students. As part of the common core standards, students are expected to engage regularly with technology. Many trainings require the use of an iPad. The presenters demonstrate different applications we can utilize with our students. Additionally, I regularly conduct Professional Development (P.D) both for the teachers at my school and teachers around the district. These P.D.'s are centered around various topics including the Common Core State Standards for both Math and English Language Arts. The professional development I conduct also reaches parents in workshops centered around the Common Core Standards.

My Project

I attend various professional developments that require the use of a tablet. Not only can I take pictures of posters on the walls but use applications as well. Although there are several used by presenters, I shall only focus on a few. An App that is commonly used is Nearpod. I can follow along with their slideshow on a screen where the presenter is projecting but this App also allows me to be interactive with the presentation. We connect with the presenter’s tablet and view the slides from our own device. We also upload responses to questions being asked by the presenter. Another app I can use is Notability. This application enables me to upload text onto my tablet and annotate. For instance, in a presentation, we had to upload the Framework for the Common Core Standards onto our device and annotate a section. Additionally, I have an account on Pepper PD where I can complete online Common Core Courses. With the portability of a tablet, I can work from any location.

An iPad will increase my engagement in professional developments and implement the strategies I learn.

I can load apps that are being referred to annotate text. I can also complete online courses to further my understanding of the Common Core. Also, utilizing an iPad as a tool during professional development I conduct will allow me to better demonstrate how teachers and parents can incorporate technology to enrich student learning. It will help pave the path to produce 21st Century Learner!
