A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
I have two classes of 5th graders and one class of 6th graders. My 6th-grade class has 27 students and 20 of them are boys! They are all very competitive, and I really want to challenge them this year.
The district where I teach rezoned during the summer, and there are several new students at my school.
I want them to have opportunities to get involved in class and meet and make new friends while they are working together on assignments and projects.
My Project
Our previous Donors Choose grant was fully funded, but now we need supplies! In order to make awesome creations using our new 3D Printer, we need filament for the printer. The students will use a computer to design their project and will then create it in 3D. They will be able to print parts needed for our drone. Many children look at drones as cool toys, but they are actually helping children become prepared for the increasingly digital world of the future. My students will learn how to use code to program and fly the drone. They will learn to troubleshoot any problems and see the cause and effect of their programming.
Anytime you give students hands-on experiences, it elevates their interest in the content and helps them better retain the information.
The supplies and drone will allow my students to create and collaborate. Drones are becoming vital educational tools and are helping teachers deliver interactive and interesting lessons to their students. We live in a digital world and technology is a life skill.
