This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Do you want to help students showcase their personalities? Our school requires a uniform Monday through Thursday but allows students to wear a school spirit shirt on Friday. We have a guest artist coming in to do a printmaking workshop with our students. Our goal is to allow students who otherwise not be able to afford one, the opportunity to use printmaking to create a spirit shirt that showcases both their unique personalities, as well as school pride.

Although our school requires a uniform, students are given the opportunity on Friday to wear a spirit shirt of their choice.

We are a Title 1 school, and many of our students do not have the means to purchase these school shirts. Through the printmaking processes, they will learn how to create their own designs and if we receive a donation of shirts, they can transfer those designs to their very own spirit shirts. Although we plan to get a few silkscreens set up with the school logo, our budget does not allow for purchasing shirts for each student. We plan to host a t-shirt drive through the school, but will likely need to supplement that with donations from outside partners.

Our goal is to inspire students to be creative problem solvers and to work with the materials and talents that they have. Through a donation, you can help us achieve our goals, and help students showcase their personalities and school spirit all at once.
