Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom is home to two classes of energetic 20 fifth graders, each with a big heart filled with curiosity and an enthusiastic drive to learn more. In our classroom, we dance, we sing, we chant loudly and we get creative!

We are a Title I school in the Washington Heights neighborhood of upper NYC, where Ninety-four percent of students receive free or reduced-price lunch, and 30% are English language learners.

Like most children, my students love having hands-on experiences and I want ALL of my students to be able to have access to their own personal learning needs! At the end of the year, I want my students to say, "This was the best year in math, ever!" My students deserve the best math education I can give them and I desire to be able to provide a mathematical education that will encourage my students to reach for the stars!

My Project

The Circut Explore Air 2 will take design and creativity in our classroom to an entirely new level! This amazing piece of technology will allow for my creative learners to design and develop their own projects and classroom decorations which will help to develop their creative thinking and problem solving skills.

One thing I love to do with the students and have their creative minds wonder, with this machine this makes this possible.

My creative learners spend a lot of time drawing, or cutting letters, pictures, and objects in hopes to spruce up their math and science projects. This is all time consuming and can be very frustrating. My creative learners can easily get discouraged and what would be a fun assignment has now become tedious. A cricut would save the day as it will help them with lettering and drawing. The circut will also create lettering and images that we can use for our classroom walls. This will not just save their time but my time as well since I find myself cutting letters and shapes through all times of the day and night to decorate our classroom, which is very valuable time wasted, when I can use it to plan more effective engaging visual lessons instead. I know that a lot of my creative learners find it beneficial to have visual cues.

I am all in for a circut if it helps build my students' confidence in creating and delivering awesome math and science projects, help create a beautiful classroom space that anyone can be proud of and save time for the sake of everyone! Are you in too?
