Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our goal is to create a home away from home since many of our students come from temporary housing or shelters.

Our school inspires and nurtures 800 students whom 99% receive free and reduced lunch.

Our school is located in the poorest congressional district in the country. 20% of our students are students with disabilities and 14% are English Language Learners. Our students love coming to school and are eager to learn and engage with their teachers. Our goal is to challenge and nurture our students.

My Project

The rugs will help define the different areas in the classroom and welcome the students to create and explore while utilizing floor space. The colors and themes of the rugs are inviting and colorful. The rug for the block area has a road where the children can create bridges and buildings. The blue rug is calming and will create an inviting reading area and nook in the classroom.

Many of our children come from homes with very little space and no work areas.

Our goal is create a classroom with clear, comfortable space and work areas to promote creativity and discovery.
