Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Books should be like mirrors that allow children to see themselves. Children learn from characters who are like themselves and whom they can empathize with. However, many traditional children’s books feature Caucasian characters or anthropomorphic animals. People of color are underrepresented in children’s literature.

Help me give my students diverse books that represent their backgrounds.

They will thrive in a learning environment where their perspectives and cultural experiences are acknowledged and affirmed. I am hoping to fill the therapy room with books that will capture my students’ hearts.

The selected books reflect diverse cultures, which will help my students understand that everyone has value. I cannot wait to see them engage with these books and learn to tell their own stories! Your support will be instrumental in fostering my students’ speech and language development and personal growth.
