This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are a talented group of children that work hard to achieve excellence in writing. We are a Title I school that has the privilege to offer our students the option to dive deep into the arts and hone in on skills that will benefit the rest of their lives.

This is my first year teaching creative writing, and I want to make sure I give these wonderful students a unique and special experience.

They deserve to have a classroom full of different materials that focus on each of their talents and interests.

I want to help students connect podcasts, visual arts, film, music, and other media to their writing to create beautiful projects they can be proud of.

I will use the Papier-mâché masks to create masks with art, poetry, and creative writing for their about me at the beginning of the year, I am going to use the podcast equipment and accessories to have students make a podcast for their book clubs to discuss each aspect of the book and the writing of the author. I will be using some of the written materials to give the students several workstations that they can move to within the classroom and to help with generating ideas. I will use the tripods for students to make plays or short films as a final creative writing project.
