This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My classroom is made up of energetic and dedicated students with autism. My students are a group of innovative and imaginative kids with a love of learning. Distance learning has been a challenge this year and I would love to provide as many tools as possible to help my students access the curriculum and engage in our classwork from home. In order for me to teach to every child's unique needs, I divide my students into small groups where I provide instruction to match their learning styles.
My Project
My class consists of special needs 2nd and 3rd-grade students with autism that love expressing themselves through their artwork. Our classroom work is designed to create multiple means of engagement providing students the options to demonstrate their content comprehension visually through drawings.
Distance learning has been a challenge for my students who do not have access to the same art materials that we normally use in our classroom.
We are able to use art to demonstrate reading comprehension, create math story problem models, and let our creative expression out during our free drawing time. We can also use manipulatives like modeling clay to help us solve math problems and conduct various STEM experiements.
