My Students

We all love the look, feel, and smell of a new crayon. My students do too. As a teacher for many years, I have noticed that when my students do an art project that involves coloring, they always look through the box to find the crayon in the best condition to color with.

I work in a Title I school, many of my children come from homes where funds are limited; making it hard for them to bring in the required school supplies.

I work in a very underprivileged school where family incomes are very low.

It is a struggle for students to bring in the basic school supplies every year.

Crayons, which are a primary supply on my first grade supply list, are always the supply left out simply because the parents could not afford it.

My Project

I am requesting a classroom supply of crayons so my students will always have the opportunity to color with new and vibrant colors to make their artwork pop. My students get so excited when they have the chance to work with new supplies, especially new crayons. The crayons that I have now are from the past few school years and I want them to know the feeling of new and unused materials just for them.

It is my job to not only teach my students academics but also to teach them that they deserve the best in life.

Having new crayons in the classroom will encourage my students to express themselves through art. They exude confidence and are so proud to share and display their work when they know they used beautiful, new crayons!
