This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are amazing. They come to school prepared to learn and try their best to achieve high expectations every day. Our school is located in a low-income area with most students receiving free or reduced-price lunch.

Engagement is key for my students and I want them to be engaged in their learning and succeed!

I want my students to learn and be successful and have fun at the same time. I focus on the potential and growth of the children. That growth is measured in student joy and love for learning, their engagement in learning activities, and their desire to focus during these uncertain times!

My Project

My students are in need of interactive and hands-on activities to demonstrate their learning and explore their creativity. Due to remote learning, our art resources and the ability to provide all students with their own paints and brushes are limited. Therefore, this project will help my students use their creative skills, along with information from our reading units to show their understanding. They can use their modeling clay to create examples of creatures, leaves, pinecones, birds, and other items from our reading selections. The boxes will provide students with a space to save their collection of natural items. The picture frame is connected to our curriculum and allow them to create a gift. The paints allow each child to add their creativity to each item.

Students show their learning by creating and exploring their own yards, helping them to broaden their depth of knowledge.

Families will have a great time watching their children become experts at identifying items within their yards. Help me bring a fun and interactive way of learning during remote learning, with materials to bring out each child’s creativity, encourage parent participation, and bring to life our reading selections.
