One of the essential parts to creating and implementing interventions with students is creating hands on writing projects for students. Preparing my students to be college and career ready is a focus in my classroom. In order to prepare students, they often have individual creative projects. The addition of post it notes, ink pens, and colored paper will help facilitate student creativity. My classroom is designed not to look or feel like the traditional classroom. My students have access to flexible seating and creativity is cultivated. Inner city students often think of school as an interesting or fun place to be. What sets my students apart is that they often come to you like a raw, blank canvas. This gives me the opportunity to imprint my stamp on them. My scholars are highly imaginative and engaged in their studies. They take an active role in their education and like working together on projects. The students I work with are disadvantaged and come from low-income homes. The front of my classroom is devoted to activities for small groups. This space will be used as a meeting place for mini-lessons and periods of autonomous study. To assist with assignments and create student portfolio folders, students will use the post it notes, and colored paper. Our student portfolio sessions will run more easily if we have access to these supplies. Creativity, and hands on student led activities help to prepare students to be college and career ready. This is our goal and these supplies will help to support these student goals.
