Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I work as a special education teacher for children with severe and profound mental and physical disabilities. The students range in age from six to eight. Their disabilities include cerebral palsy, epilepsy, Dandy Walker syndrome, and general physical disabilities that limit mobility and movement. The majority of students at our school receive free or reduced lunch.

My students love to do art projects. It gives my students great joy to express themselves through art. The students enjoy making choices about how their art projects will look. They also like to have their artwork displayed in the hall for others to see. The other students in the school as well as parents and visitors love looking at the students work. Many of our best items will be displayed at the schools annual art and academic fair as well.

My students need a variety of art and craft supplies. These materials will allow the students in my class to be creative with their art projects.

By donating these materials my students and their families will be able to enjoy the created crafts for years to come. Completing art projects builds the students self-esteem and makes them feel proud of their work and accomplishments. The smiles on their faces when they have completed a work of art on their own is priceless. Please help us by donating to our project.
