My Students

My students come from a diverse array of cultural, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds. They are pregnant or parenting teens who want to finish their education and learn how to be a wonderful parent.

I want my students to gather the skills and resources necessary to be successful as a parent and as a student.

Teens with adult responsibilities need support and understanding to have success in school. We offer a calm atmosphere where the student can bring their child and learn the skills to be job market ready or be prepared to further their education.

A parenting teen does not understand how their schedule will change and they need a class schedule that can work with their parenting schedule. Through the chaos of new parenthood, I want to support my students to prepare them for life after high school.

My Project

My students are learning how to become good parents, good students and also how to take care of children. They may have their own child or have a desire to work in the child care field. I will help them learn how much fun and excited it is to work in the field and also raise their own child.

In the classroom, the students will learn to make crafts and create resources that they can use at home or at work in a preschool or daycare.

The materials will be essential to the learning process. Most students learn by actually doing an activity instead of just reading or witnessing the project.
