Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Donating acrylic paint, canvas and easel sets, crochet hooks, yarn, and a yarn winder to our art and crochet clubs will provide my students with vital tools to support their mental health and self-expression. These hands-on materials align perfectly with their agricultural backgrounds, where they are accustomed to working with their hands and connecting with the tangible world. By engaging in creative activities such as painting and crocheting, they will experience the calming, meditative effects of tactile work.

This immersion in art and craft provides a mental break from academic pressures and other challenges, allowing them to focus on creating something meaningful and therapeutic.

Each of these materials offers unique learning opportunities and supports mental well-being. Easels, paint, and canvas will allow students to explore emotions through color, build self-confidence, and express their individuality on canvas. Crochet hooks, yarn, and a yarn winder enable them to engage in textile arts, which promote focus and bring a comforting rhythm that can reduce stress and ease anxiety. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where students can freely express themselves, build confidence, and connect with others who share their interests. This initiative fosters creativity as a pathway to improved mental health, giving my students a fulfilling school experience that nurtures their growth and well-being.
