My Project

These items will enrich student learning in a variety of hands-on, interdisciplinary ways. The basswood will be used in combination with our new Glowforge printer, which we are still learning to use. This encourages design thinking and creativity as students design and laser-cut their projects.

The countertop composter will bring composting into our classroom instead of just our cafeteria, allowing students to see the decomposition happen within a school day.

We can also use the composter to compare decomposition rates of different materials while encouraging responsibility and eco-conscious habits. We will use the compost on our classroom plants and school gardens.

Crocheting has taken off in our classroom. Many students are developing their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination through yarn manipulation. I am most impressed with the patience and perseverance that students are gaining as they work through challenges. These extra hooks, yarn, and needles will keep students equipped as they start new projects.
