My Project

My school is a self contained building that serves young adults with severe disabilities. In my class, we focus on functional academics and vocational skills to prepare for future employment. Our school is dedicated to creating an inclusive environment where every student can thrive, and we believe practical experiences are vital for developing independence and confidence. A key component of our program is our class work site, the Crafty Panthers. In this work site students engage in hands-on learning and real-world applications of their skills, including community service initiatives.

The Crafty Panthers, use a Cricut machine to create various projects help the school community.

This year we made student uniforms for worksites, prom and graduation invitations as well as gifts for the winter holidays. This machine allows my students to express their creativity while teaching them valuable vocational skills. All projects we make are aimed at enhancing the school environment. Through this work, students gain practical experience that translates into future job opportunities.

Every year we try to do one of two projects to sharpen our skills but also spread kindness to the school community as a whole. We have found that fun and engaging school supplies can motivate students by fostering a positive learning environment, boosting self-esteem, and encouraging participation. We would like to make a project to do just that. We are asking for vinyl and notebooks with blank covers. We are planning to customize these books with students names as well as an image that they select. We think this is going to boost student moral and make students feel valued while also making learning fun.
