Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My reading intervention students benefit from guided practice to help them improve their reading comprehension of informational text.

My reading intervention students are 7th and 8th graders who are reading two years or more below grade-level in reading.

We spend a lot of group time working on improving their reading comprehension of informational text through guided practice of reading skills and strategies.

My Project

My students need multicolored highlighters to help them practice "coding the text" when reading informational text through the close reading model. Coding the text through the use of different colored highlighters allows my students to focus on key standards and skills that we are working on in the classroom. It also helps them identify the missing parts of the text.

Supporting this project helps my students accelerate their individual progress in and outside of the classroom.

It will continue to help them even after they move onto high school.
