This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

As the librarian, my goal is to make the library a place students want to come to. I always work to have great books the students want to read, but so far, the library is only seen as functional. Students come in, get a book, and leave. This year, the library will be open for students to visit during the morning before classes, as well as during recess. In order to make the library more welcoming, I want to beautify the space!

I would love students to see the library as a cozy place to visit, get a wonderful book, curl up, and just enjoy their time reading.

To help with this, I would love to take my functional space and place more emphasis on the FUN, by adding a cute, cozy, ocean themed reading nook in the library with a plush rug, soft seating, and pillows... all things I hope students would just want to cozy in to with a great book!
