My Students

I am a Special Education Resource Specialist Teacher and I support my amazing and creative kiddos across many different classrooms from kindergarten to fifth grade! My passion is in building a community and safe place for students to learn and grow their skills.

My students live in an area of the highest poverty in town and 100% of the students at our school receive a free lunch.

Despite these challenges, my students are amazing kids! My students are spread out in different classrooms, so I will need a variety of basic supplies to support their learning needs.

My students' situation can be very challenging and we need many additional resources to supplement the severe lack of funding and opportunities my students deserve to have.

My Project

My students work their hardest and best when they have a variety of options to sit, lay down, or cozy up to read and work. I am slowly building more options over time and a futon would be an amazing addition to our class. I also need to replenish my fidget toy supply. Fidget toys are a great tool to help my students listen and learn.

My students spent so much time at home learning, I want to bring that element back into my class by giving them a futon to cozy upon.

One of my favorite philosophies for teaching reading is to show students how to read in the wild. This means, helping them learn how they love to read best so we can foster a deeper love of reading. A futon is one way of providing a cozy place at school to read for pleasure and for their studies.
