Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The beanbag seatss and wobble chairs will give my students the flexibility to choose where they sit and how they learn, helping them stay focused, comfortable, and engaged. These seating options allow them to feel empowered and more in control of their learning experience, whether they're reading a book during Drop Everything and Read time or working independently. Alternative seating helps create an environment where kids are excited to participate, making the classroom a place they truly enjoy!

My goal is to create a warm, inviting space where students feel comfortable and motivated to learn.

I want them to have the ability to choose their work area based on their individual needs, and I want to have a calm corner with beanbag seating for students who might need a quiet spot to reset during the school day. These changes will help improve both their academic progress and social-emotional growth.

My students are a group of bright, energetic second graders at a Title I school in Lomita, California. They’re at a stage in their lives where everything is new and exciting, and they are full of curiosity and creativity. They love to learn, especially when they can cozy up with a good book!

Many of my students are also second-language learners, and providing them with a comfortable, flexible learning environment helps them feel safe, confident, and ready to thrive. They are truly special because of their enthusiasm and resilience, and they deserve a classroom that fosters both their academic and emotional well-being.
