Help me give my students alternative bean bag seating and a carpet for a reading corner in the classroom. Help me with classroom decorations to create a bright welcoming classroom. We are located in a low income district.
Please help me to create a bright, cozy space for students to learn. I teach learning support grades K-3 in the Mt. Pleasant Area School District. We are a Title I school district and are located about an hour outside of Pittsburgh in the Laurel Mountains of Pennsylvania.
I am asking for donations for alternative seating and a carpet to bring a colorful reading corner to my classroom.
By receiving beanbag chairs, and a carpet, the student will be able to move around the room and be engaged in learning activities throughout the day. The student may have quiet reading time in this area or engage in lessons.
The decorations I have requested are to create a welcoming environment. I chose the confetti them because they have motivational themes and “spread kindness” themes with this decor. Encouraging students to be kind creates an environment where all students are welcomed, they can feel safe and are valued learners within the classroom.
My students are identified with specific learning disabilities. Getting them up and out of their chairs into different parts of the room keeps them engaged. Students may use this area as a reward or just a cozy spot to finish classwork. Students will be motivated to earn the reading corner. I have seen students use cozy reading corners and they love these areas. Mt. Pleasant Area School District has a motto to move, engage and assess. This reading corner will help attain all three.
