My 8th graders are hardworking, determined, and full of potential.
Despite daily adversities, they come to school with a spark of hope and a desire to engage with the world. With the right encouragement, they can achieve wonderful things and express themselves through literature and writing.
**How Each Resource Will Help Them Learn:**
1. Cozy Chair:
A comfortable chair will invite students to sit and read, helping them relax and immerse themselves in books, improving reading stamina and engagement.
2. Pillows:
Pillows will make the reading nook inviting and cozy, reducing anxiety around reading and encouraging students to spend more time with books.
3. Bookshelf Tree:
A bookshelf tree will make books more appealing and accessible, encouraging students to explore and read more by connecting them with a visually engaging display.
Goals for This Project:
- Create a place that makes reading cool for 8th graders.
- Provide a space where students can be absorbed by books.
- Increase students’ love of reading by making it accessible, interesting, and social.
Why My Students Are Special:
My students come from a rural town and often enter my classroom apathetic to reading. They face numerous challenges but show resilience and a willingness to learn. They have unique stories to tell and, with your help, can find their voice through literature and writing.
