My Students

I currently service 24 special needs students in fifth grade. Some of them have specific learning disabilities, some have communication disabilities, and others suffer from attentional issues such as ADHD. Many of them have a hard time sitting in regular chairs, and they are reluctant readers.

I really want to furnish my resource room with comfy beanbag chairs that could foster a love of reading and make them feel comfortable.

I would also like to replace the many CD players that have come and gone in my room. I find instrumental music sets the tone for a calm yet energetic atmosphere. Plus, we can listen to books on CD and do a little karaoke during reward time.

My Project

I am in really hoping to add three Cocoon Bean Bag chairs and a Kids’ CD Player that doubles as a karaoke machine to my resource room. I want my students to be comfortable and to associate that cozy, safe, warm feeling with reading, learning new things and broadening their horizons.

I plan on offering several books on CD that they can read and listen to simultaneously.

I also want to introduce them to calming, soothing music that will help them stay regulated at school.

They may not remember what they read sitting in those chairs, but they will always remember the experience.
