Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students enjoyed reading for an extended period of time. They particularly enjoyed reading in our rug area and laying down to read their books. By adding cushions and bean bags, the students will have a cozy corner to curl up and read their books. It will also help me promote reading for those who might sometimes feel resistant to reading since they can find a comfortable spot to sit, relax and read a book. Allowing students the independence to choose where to read promotes autonomy and encourages them to take ownership in their education. It also allows for opportunities for them to learn how to share our classroom resources.

I am also hoping to expand my library.

Since we are a Dual Language classroom, we have to find room for books in both languages. Adding another book shelf, helps find a place our books that are currently in baskets. My students are always looking forward to reading and have a deep love of books.

Ms. Escalante will only receive her materials if this project is fully funded by July 19.
